Dr Richard Piper

Richard graduated in medicine from the University of New South Wales in 1985. He completed his physician training in Critical Care in 1993. His research experience includes a B.Med.Sci, and M.D. in the area of cerebrovascular physiology (Institute of Neurological Sciences, Prince Henry Hospital, Sydney). He was subsequently awarded a NH&MRC Neil Hamilton Fairley Scholarship, and studied overseas in Victoria Hospital, London Ontario, at the AC Burton Laboratory with Professor Bill Sibbald. He subsequently returned to RNSH where he completed a PhD in the areas of cerebrovascular dysfunction in sepsis. He has had a longstanding interest in clinical informatics. He was an Intensive Care Specialist at the RNSH up until 2018, after which he took up his appointment at the SERT Institute.
