Overview of Service
The Vascular Surgery Department at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) is a quaternary referral centre in NSW, providing an advanced level of expert care for a range of complex vascular conditions, in addition to being a lead centre for renal transplants. The RNSH Vascular Surgery unit specialises in open and endovascular procedures for the treatment of aneurysms aortic dissection, peripheral artery disease, superficial and deep venous thromboses. This unit has a strong focus on clinical research and an established clinical trials team.

Dr Vikram Puttaswamy has special interests in include open and minimally invasive aortic aneurysm repair, peripheral arterial stenting and angioplasty, renal transplantation, carotid artery endarterectomy and stenting, and varicose vein surgery.

Dr Walid Mohabbat has a special interest in endovascular stentgraft repairs for aortic aneurysms and dissections including fenestrated and branched repairs, carotid endarterectomy and carotid artery stenting, lower extremity endovascular treatments including angioplasty, stenting, laser arthrectomy and also in endovenous laser ablation of varicose veins.

Dr Shen Wong has a special interest in including aortic and lower limb minimally invasive endovascular ballooning/stenting and traditional open bypass, venous surgery – minimally invasive endovascular laser and traditional varicose vein treatments, Renal failure surgery including dialysis access and renal transplantation.

Dr Animesh Singla has a special interest in the endovascular management of aneurysms, complex aortic and peripheral occlusive diseases, diabetic foot infections, dialysis access, kidney transplantation and varicose veins.
