Overview of Service
The Department of Hand and Peripheral Nerve Surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital is the main tertiary referral peripheral nerve centre in New South Wales, as well as a major complex hand surgery referral unit and specialises in the treatment of all elective and traumatic conditions involving these domains. Areas of focus include brachial plexus injuries, thoracic outlet syndrome, tetraplegia and spasticity surgery, wrist arthroscopy and targeted muscle reinnervation.

Dr Richard Lawson has a special interest in children’s hand surgery, brachial plexus and peripheral nerve surgery and Dupuytren’s disease.

Dr Anthony Beard has a special interest in wrist pain, various wrist disorders and hand trauma.

Dr Mark Hile treats all conditions of the hand and wrist, with a special interest in conditions and trauma of the wrist.

Dr James Ledgard looks after all conditions of the hand and wrist but has a special interest in tetraplegic hand reconstruction and the treatment of spasticity.
