Trauma
Overview of Service
The Trauma Service at RNSH is a verified level 1 Trauma Centre, and the only Major Trauma Centre in the state that provides all adult services. We are one of the statewide spinal centres (and primary spinal centre for traumatic spinal cord injuries) and a statewide Burns referral centre.
Areas of Expertise
- Code Crimson and the management of the acutely exsanguinating patient
- Acute Trauma Resuscitation and damage control surgery and damage control anaesthesia
- Inpatient trauma care from arrival to discharge
- Collaboration and engagement with all surgical subspecialties
- Close engagement with acute pain services and regional pain techniques for trauma patients

- Consultant staff active in multiple teaching courses including cadaver laboratory courses
